This week the children will learn about the first artist in our Great Masters Unit. They will hear about the life of Michelangelo and look at paintings and sculptures that he did. Then they will each get an opportunity to paint like Michelangelo on their backs under a table to see how the artist felt when he painted the Sistine Chapel. You might want to ask your child what he/she remembers from the story. They will use clay to sculpt figures that can actually stand on their own.
We will continue to focus on the letter M and do projects that reinforce the formation and sound of the letter.
In science, the children will explore magnifying glasses and learn about their sense of hearing.

Hello families,
I have recently sent home with your child a package with a piece of
artwork they have created in art class. This is a chance to get your
students art work reproduced onto something special. Inside each green bag
that was sent home was an order form and price list from the company that
will be doing this for us called Original Works. These orders must be
returned to either me or your classroom teacher no later then
Friday October 31st. Parents please return your child's artwork, with the
order form and check in the same green bag you got it in. Please remember
this is voluntary fundraiser for Yad B Yad, and it makes a great holiday
gift. The kids were very excited to order some things with their very own
artwork on them.
Thank you so much in advance for taking part of this great fundraiser. I
look forward to seeing all the orders coming in.

In Hebrew and Jewish Studies, the children will continue learning about the story of B'reisheet (creation) during t'fillot. They will also learn to recognize the letter Gimel and practice its sound. They will also learn vocabulary words that begin with this letter.
