This week the children will be meeting Benny the Alphabet Bear who comes to visit every time we learn a new letter. For the next two weeks they will be learning to make the sound of the letter M, recognize and write both upper and lower case M, and brainstorm things that could begin with M by category, such as animals, foods, and numbers. They will do many hands-on projects to reinforce these skills.
We will also be discussing the sense of taste and making a tasting graph. The children will also learn about magnets, do some experiments, and fill out a lab report.
They will also practice writing the number three and begin to explore combinations that equal that number.
In Hebrew and Jewish Studies, the children will be doing several projects with the letter Aleph, learning its vocabulary words and sound. We will play games with all the letters that we learned so far to reinforce and practice.
In T'filah, we will continue to learn the V'Ahavta using hand motions to describe the Hebrew words of the prayer.
In Torah, we will begin the story of B'reisheet, the story of creation. Because of the depth of the stories and the many lessons to be learned, we will spend the next few weeks working on this Torah portion.
